The Protein Works : Protein Crunkies Review

The Protein Works Protein Crunkies are a great alternative to conventional energy bars.

  • Firstly: They’re totally vegan.
  • Secondly: They’re packed with protein.
  • Thirdly: thanks to the high fibre content, they’re great for your digestive system.

So now you know:

  • What they are.
  • What’s in them.
  • And why they’re a great snack.

It’s time to tell you what they taste like and whether you should give them a try.

Apple & Cinnamon Collision:

Apple and cinnamon always works. It’s a perfect combination of sweet fruit, a little spice, a taste of chocolate and a chunk of oats.

Taste:

This energy bar is a great breakfast replacement if you’re on the go. It tastes great. The flavourings are natural, and none of it tastes artificial or over powering. It’s subtle, there’s no powdery protein taste and it definitely doesn’t taste like a standard protein bar. It’s not too chewy, it has a nice little crunch and I think the texture is exactly what you expect from an energy bar like this.

Rating:

8/10 great taste, great mix of flavours, great texture – shame about the palm oil.

Coconut & Apricot Melee

Sweet apricots and dried coconut flakes, what more could you want from your healthy energy bar snack?

Taste:

Similar to the Apple and Cinnamon, the flavour is subtle, tasty and tastes very natural. There really is nothing artificial about these healthy little snack bars. The Coconut and Apricot flavour contains bits of flavoursome dried apricot inside and has a scattering of dried coconut on the top. The texture is great and the flavours are good, but I did prefer the apple flavour.

7/10 – little less flavour than expected.

Cranberry & Goji Hubbub

Cranberry and Goji, possibly the sweetest of these vegan energy bars – but what did we think?

Taste

This Cranberry and Goji bar has something I feel the other two flavours are lacking. That little sugary sweetness hit that comes from the dried cranberries is just perfection. Again, a very natural, subtle taste with nothing artificial at all. These bars are possibly my favourite high-protein snack of all time!

9/10 AMAZING – but losing a mark for palm oil.

Overall Protein Crunkies Review:

These snacks taste great. They have subtle flavourings, they’re not dry and are perfect for snack times. My only complaints are the use of soya protein and palm oil. I believe by changing these two ingredients this product would be open and available to a lot more people.
